Associate professor / Professor position in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Liège (Belgium)

The School of Engineering is seeking candidates to a full-time academic position (Associate Professor/Professor) in the field of Geotechnical Engineering.

The new academic will be affiliated with the Department of Architectural, Geological, Environmental and Civil Engineering of the School of Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Liège (Belgium).

The appointee will contribute to the research activities in the field of geotechnical engineering. The rapid development of renewable energy production and the increasing use of the underground generate a growing need in geotechnical engineering to design new solutions and to study complex processes, with underground-infrastructure interactions, multi-physics processes, human impacts and integration in BIM models. Geotechnical engineering is therefore facing new challenges related to the resilience and the sustainability of geostructures. Research program for developing new experimental techniques and strategies, or cutting-edge numerical tools applied to civil/geological engineering problems are welcome.

Applications from candidates with a strong research background in civil engineering, or a cognate subject, are expected. The Department aims for a professor with the capacities and desire to develop a fundamental research programme of international standing.

See attached file (link) for details. For any further questions, please contact Prof. Frédéric Collin.

Application deadline: 15 February 2021

Professor of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

Division IV – Natural and Built Environment, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Department of Civil Engineering, Geo and Environmental Sciences (Germany) invites applications for the position of Professor (W3) of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. This position to be appointed at the earliest possible date and is associated with membership of the Board of Directors of the “Institute for Soil Mechanics and Rock Mechanics”.

We are looking for a personality who represents the entire scope of “Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering” with enthusiasm and innovative power. You further develop this field on new and approved methods and fundamental and application-oriented research, and you assume responsibility in research and education by relying on your excellent didactic skills, scientific achievements – proven by relevant publications – and your expertise in creatively combining fundamental principles, numerical description, experimental research and engineering application. A well-equipped laboratory is at your disposal.

Professor of Experimental Soil Mechanics for Sustainability at Delft University of Technology

Applications are invited for a Professor of Experimental Soil Mechanics for Sustainability. The position is proposed to improve our understanding of the fundamental mechanical behaviour of soils undergoing ageing and cyclic environmental loads, and to provide new solutions to the present and future challenges of the built environment. The focus is on developing new experimental techniques and strategies to better understand and tune the response of soils to increasingly high (time-dependent and dynamic) loadings.

The closing date for applications is 1 September 2019
