Assistant/Associate Professor of Geotechnical Uncertainty – Position @ TU Delft

Researcher position – Geotechnics- Imperial College London

Applications are invited for a full-time researcher based in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London to work on the development of in-situ sensors in soil for 18 months, with the possibility of extension. The successful applicant will join the Geotechnics research group as a member of research staff and will conduct research on an UKRI/NSF funded project entitled “Sits NSF-UKRUL Rapid deployment of multi-functional modular sensing systems in the soil”.
The work will be conducted under the supervision of Professor Catherine O’Sullivan, in collaboration with Prof. Daniele Dini and Dr Tom Reddyhof (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Prof. Andrew Holmes (Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering).  The project is a collaboration with researchers from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, US.  This project therefore presents a good opportunity to develop skills in cross-disciplinary working with a highly international team, comprising academic staff, research staff and PhD students.  We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in either laboratory geophysics, including bender elements, or with experience of running DEM simulations.  Please contact Catherine O’Sullivan (cath.osullivan@imperial.ac.uk) or refer to the official advertisement:

Associate Professorship of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering – Oxford University)

The Civil Engineering research group at Oxford has an academic vacancy in the area of Geotechnical Engineering / Offshore Renewable Energy. The appointment is at Associate Professor level, which can be an entry level permanent appointment. In exceptional cases more senior staff can be appointed with the title of Professor. The post comes with a Tutorial Fellowship at St. Catherine’s College, with associated financial and other benefits.

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor position at University of Auckland – New Zealand

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland invites applications from outstanding candidates for a position in Geotechnical Engineering at the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor level.

The candidate will be expected to develop a strong research programme, to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Civil and Environmental Engineering programmes and to participate in the administrative activities of the Department, the Faculty of Engineering and the University.

The selected candidate must:

  • hold a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
  • have an excellent academic record as evidenced by a publication record appropriate to the appointment level sought
  • demonstrate experience and expertise in specialised laboratory and/or innovative field-based research.

It is anticipated that the area of research and professional practice may involve geotechnical characterisation of problematic soils, slope engineering, rock and tunnel engineering, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and/or other emerging geotechnical specialties.
