Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Geotechnical Engineering – University of the West of England, Bristol (UK)
The Faculty of Environment and Technology of the University of the West of England, Bristol (UK) is looking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering. They are seeking applications from professionals whose backgrounds, academic and industrial experience and identity broaden and enhance the diversity of their existing team. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the development and delivery of teaching and research in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Hazards.
Candidates will need to be available for a Skype interview on 10/05/19 and if successful after this stage a final face to face interview on 17/05/19.

IX IAGIG, Napoli, 10-11 Maggio 2019
Il prossimo Incontro Annuale dei Giovani Ingegneri Geotecnici (IAGIG) si terrà a Napoli il 10 e l’11 Maggio 2019, presso l’Università Parthenope.
IAGIG è un’iniziativa dell’Associazione Geotecnica Italiana che vuole promuovere tra i suoi giovani soci la discussione di argomenti di Ingegneria Geotecnica con riferimento alla pratica professionale ed alle innovazioni proposte dalla ricerca. L’iniziativa è stata pensata, quindi, per coinvolgere liberi professionisti, dipendenti di enti pubblici o di imprese, giovani imprenditori del settore, neo-laureati, giovani ricercatori.
I giovani ingegneri sono invitati ad inviare entro il 29 Gennaio 2019 un breve contributo che verrà revisionato da un comitato scientifico nominato da AGI e sarà poi pubblicato online e stampato. La partecipazione al convegno è gratuita e aperta a tutti.

Associate Professorship of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering – Oxford University)
The Civil Engineering research group at Oxford has an academic vacancy in the area of Geotechnical Engineering / Offshore Renewable Energy. The appointment is at Associate Professor level, which can be an entry level permanent appointment. In exceptional cases more senior staff can be appointed with the title of Professor. Full Time Tenure Stream – Assistant Professor at York University, Toronto – Canada
The Department of Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track professorial-stream position at the Assistant Professor level in Geotechnical Engineering to commence on July 1, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated candidate who will contribute to the Department’s goal of establishing a state-of-the-art advanced experimental geotechnics facility, focused on laboratory and field testing of saturated, unsaturated and frozen soils, and other geomaterials, such as waste and mine tailings. Other focus areas of this position can include: geotechnical field instrumentation and monitoring for geohazards; environmental geotechnics; energy geotechnics; experimental geochemistry; transportation geotechnics; and mining geotechnics. The successful candidate is expected to play a key role in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate geotechnical engineering courses.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland invites applications from outstanding candidates for a position in Geotechnical Engineering at the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor level.
The candidate will be expected to develop a strong research programme, to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Civil and Environmental Engineering programmes and to participate in the administrative activities of the Department, the Faculty of Engineering and the University.
The selected candidate must:
- hold a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
- have an excellent academic record as evidenced by a publication record appropriate to the appointment level sought
- demonstrate experience and expertise in specialised laboratory and/or innovative field-based research.
It is anticipated that the area of research and professional practice may involve geotechnical characterisation of problematic soils, slope engineering, rock and tunnel engineering, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and/or other emerging geotechnical specialties.
