Wave Propagation in Deformable Solids and Meta-Materials – Pavia, september 5-9, 2022
On September 5-9, 2022 a short course has been organized by the University of Pavia (Italy) entitled “Wave Propagation in Deformable Solids and Meta-Materials“. The course will be held in a prestigious Renaissance Residence in downtown Pavia. The lecturers are well-known specialists in their respective disciplines. The schedule of the course is very intense with 6-7 hours of lectures every day. A limited number of PhD students and post-docs who are not supported by their own academic institutions can apply to student residences in Pavia which offer lodging at a particularly convenient rate. Details can be found on this flyer and at this website which has been purposely created. The course will be held in presence, however due to Covid-19 restrictions, the auditorium can host up to a maximum of 50 participants. Reservations will be made on a first-come first-served basis. Applicants can register via this webpage no later than July 30, 2022.

Multi-physics processes in geomechanics by coupled numerical analysis – Short course, August 20, 2022
Nowadays, strong multi-physics coupling characterizes the new challenging problems in the field of geomechanics. Enhanced theoretical bases and the merging of various disciplines are bringing about novel approaches for solving complex problems. In this context, the numerical methods play a crucial role, since they provide tools which allow to leap beyond the experimental investigation, to describe complex geometries, extended domains and long-time scales of the natural physical processes.
A short course on Multi-physics processes in geomechanics by coupled numerical analysis is organized at the Politecnico di Milano on august 30, 2022 within the 2022 IACMAG Conference. The short course is aimed to give hints about some aspects of coupled analyses, where the interactions of pore water, chemical reactions and mechanical response in two and three phases porous materials are explicitly modelled.
