  • COUPLED COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD) AND GRANULAR FLOW – The University of Sydney
    A funded PhD position is available in the Sydney Centre in Geomechanics and Mining Materials (SciGEM) at The University of Sydney on heterarchical stochastic modelling of granular media.   • FROM GEO-RESOURCES TO ENERGY STORAGE: HOW DO UNDERGROUND LITHOLOGIES RESPOND TO THERMO-MECHANICAL COUPLING? – HWU
    The scope of this PhD project is to use different scale observations to model and predict the stability of targeted lithologies in underground complex systems when those are subjected to cyclic TM stress changes over prolonged periods.   • MODELLING OF WAVE PROPAGATION IN SOILS DUE TO RAIL TRAFFIC – Delft University of Technology
    Delft University of Technology is seeking candidates for a PhD position on the Numerical and Geophysical Modelling of Wave Propagation in Soils due to Rail Traffic. The candidate should have a strong background in numerical modelling and soil mechanics, and have a genuine interest and aptitude for the development, computer implementation and application of numerical and probabilistic-based algorithms.   • LOW CARBON CONSTRUCTION OF EARTHWORKS – Teesside University
    Teesside University is offering a fully funded PhD opportunity in the field of geotechnics, with the topic “Low carbon construction of earthworks considering suction and three-dimension effects and reuse of waste materials”. The research work involves analytical, numerical and statistical modelling. Therefore, applicant is expected to have good mathematical and programming skills.
